Welcome

Additional Inspection Services

Let's talk a little about inspection services offered by Ultron.

Magnetic Particle Inspection: First developed in the 1940's during WWII, the method is standard world wide. Magnetic Particle Inspection is recommended for a quick easy method on ferromagnetic parts. Ultron utilizes this NDE method to inspect the heads on ball mills, evaluate welds, and double sort indications found with our Eddy Current Testing. All heavy industrial facilities should own a kit for quick checks, however, a qualified inspection service company is still needed to do the evaluation.

Ultron uses Magnetic Particle Inspection to verify cracks found with Ultrasonic Testing and Eddy Current Testing. Magnetic Particle Inspection helps to provide contrast in Ultron's pictures taken for the final report.

Ultron is known as an innovator in the non destructive testing industry. This goes back before the name Ultron existed. In 1983 the owner of Ultron had a client who asked him to do some research in Radiography. In November of 1983 we began providing Radiographic services to the mining industry. We now had a way to look inside bridge strand constructed wire rope. Previously we could only do a visual examination. Ultron's procedure shows the interior strand make up of the pendant ropes. The suspension ropes hold the mast and the boom. The ropes were being changed at 10 year intervals whether they needed it or not. One of my clients had a set fail in seven years. The shortest time we have witnessed was one year and nine months with sixy-three percent internal breakage and no external wires broken. Our Mechanical Engineer works very closely with the wire rope OEM's. We can calculate the loss of load due to breakage, which varies if the broken wire is internal or external.

We can also provide QA/QC services for our clients. If you are having a product manufactured, we can either provide inspection services or QA/QC to ensure all material specifications and signoffs are present before you accept the product.
